Hitchings Ranch is rooted in deep family values and customs. Initially founded by Jerry’s father, Harold Hitchings, the Hitchings ranch tradition began in Salinas, California, and later moved to Susanville, California with Jerry Hitchings in 1994.
The easily distinguished “double h” brand was created to represent Harold Hitchings' initials. The brand has been registered with the state of California since the 1930s, and continues to represent fine quality cattle to this day.
Jerry Hitchings started raising Romagnola cattle approximately twenty years ago. He has been raising champion Beefmaster cattle since 1988. Jerry was very successful with his genetic program and has raised several champion show cattle.
Until recently the Hitchings have been raising Romagnola's, commercial cattle and Purebred Beefmasters. The Romagnola’s have been sold and the commercial cattle have been culled; keeping only the cream of the crop which is now being entered into the BBU Upgrade Program.
As of 2008, the Hitchings Ranch proudly owns 125 registered Beefmaster females and 23 registered bulls. |
